AOL was seeking an effective way of managing and monitoring employee performance.  Reporting was an essential component of the system, developed from the ground up by Fig Leaf Software. 

CareerNotes™ is an innovative web-based application focusing on collaborative employee development and evaluation. CareerNotes has been architected to run as either an intranet application for a specific customer or in an application service provider model whereby data is segmented by corporate organization/division. Every piece of information displayed is dynamically generated from a database and, in some cases, can be imported directly from other ERP systems such as PeopleSoft™. Since employee development and evaluation is an activity that often occurs outside of the office environment, CareerNotes has been optimized to yield acceptable response times at modem speeds (56K)

CareerNotes enables AOL managers to perform 360 reviews on employees with the press of a button, via the Web.  In addition to performance reviews, CareerNotes captures core compentencies for individuals, departments and divisions.  Senior executives can generate reports on demand, including an up-to-date organizational chart.
